How our Perkins part numbers work

If you searched a bare Perkins number like 2873A029 and landed here, you are in the right place. Every Perkins part in our system carries a PR prefix ahead of the factory number: PR2873A029 is Perkins starter motor 2873A029, PR2871A165 is alternator 2871A165, and U-series numbers work the same way with a PRU prefix — PRU5MW0132 is Perkins water pump U5MW0132. Strip the PR or PRU and you have the original OEM number. Nothing about the part itself changes; the prefix is just how we track our own shelf stock.

That means the fastest way to check our inventory is to search either number — with the prefix or without — on our eBay store or in the full parts catalog. If it does not turn up, ask anyway: we have thousands of parts on shelves that are not listed online yet.
